Three of the students will join our company for an 8 to 12-month work term in September
Stream-Flo has been a long-time participant in and supporter of the University of Alberta Engineering Co-op Program.
The program, which allows students to complete an eight or 12-month work term with companies in an engineering capacity, has seen many students return to work for us once their co-op and remaining studies are done.
While our three current engineering students will be leaving us in August, a fresh batch of recruits — three of whom will replace the departing ones come September — recently stopped by our 340,000-square-foot Edmonton manufacturing facility for a tour.
“Part of our interview process includes an invite to come and tour Stream-Flo and meet a few of our people,” said Stream-Flo Human Resources Manager Kim Carothers in recapping the visit.
Carothers went on to explain that one of the most important things the tour accomplishes is just letting the students know who we are.
“Many of the students haven’t heard of Stream-Flo so this gives them the opportunity to meet our people and see our operations,” she said. “They get to see what we do and the size and scale of the operation. Feedback after the tour was that the students were very impressed and blown away by the size of the facility including manufacturing, R & D and the engineering department.
“Hopefully, this plants a seed with the students so that they potentially consider us as a future employer.”
Much as it has with many others whom we are now fortunate to count amongst our ranks.
